New Delhi, Jan 9 (IANS) Bollywood's dusky beauty Deepika Padukone's complexion has been lightened by three shades to suit her Chinese look in the film 'Chandni Chowk To China', says stylist Mallika Bhat.

'Deepika has a dusky skin tone. In 'Chandni Chowk To China', she plays two different roles - one with a Chinese look and the other with an Indian look. We worked on her complexion for both the looks,' Bhat told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

'For the Chinese look we gave her a three shades lighter complexion than her original. Then we gave it a yellowish tinge that is typical with Chinese people and teamed it with sharp and prominent make-up.

'For the Indian look, we gave her a shade darker in terms of complexion, used her normal hair and gave slightly over-the-top make-up but nothing extraordinary,' she added.

Bhat, who is responsible for Deepika's Chinese eyes and poker-straight fringed hair in the film, says working on the actress' look was difficult, as she does not fit the bill of a Chinese girl easily.

'It was a very challenging task. Director Nikhil Advani had briefed me very specifically about the look that he wanted Deepika to flaunt in the film. But Deepika was not an easy girl for it.

'She has a dusky complexion, large, almond-shaped eyes and long eyelashes that are totally opposite to what Chinese women look like. So I had to kind of work against nature to get the right look for her,' explained Bhat.

A lot of research went behind Deepika's Chinese look in the film.

Most often in Bollywood, stylists settle for cosmetic tapes at the end of each eye to give the Chinese look to actors, but Bhat says it wasn't a feasible option because Deepika's doctors had advised her against their use.

'Cosmetic tapes would have been very painful for Deepika. She would have to keep them on for the 10-12 hours of shooting. It is one of the easiest ways to get that Chinese look, but it was not feasible and totally out of question to expect Deepika to wear it for 60-70 days of shooting,' said Bhat.

To overcome this, Bhat created the look using eyeliner.

'I gave her a slightly slanted and curvy eyeliner to make her eyes look narrow. We gave her light shade contact lenses besides working upon her eyelashes also.'

To enhance the look, Deepika was made to wear a specially cut wig with 'poker straight and rebonded hair'.

'Indians have thick hair, but in China they have fine hair; so that aspect also had to be kept in mind. I got the wig cut by celebrity hair stylist Ryan D'Rozario,' said Bhat.

The 23-year-old actress also sports long fringes as a result of the stylist's research on Chinese women. She revealed that nearly 80 percent of youth there flaunted fringes or horizontal bangs. 'It gives the person a very Oriental look,' she said.

According to Bhat, it took her just four hours to decide upon Deepika's final look along with her team. After that, it took her team just half an hour to do up the Chinese look every time it was required.

Though Bhat says she isn't confident that she has got the look 'bang on', she admits to having 'managed to make Deepika look at least half-Chinese'.

Releasing Jan 16, 'Chandni Chowk To China' also stars superstar Akshay Kumar in the lead. The action-adventure-comedy is about an Indian cook who goes to China and has many adventures. Deepika plays Akshay's love interest in the film.

It was an unintentional blow but a blow it was when Ranbir Kapoor hit right on Katrina Kaif’s nose leaving the delicate lady bleeding. It all happened on the sets of the Rajkumar Santoshi film ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’.

This Monday evening, the stars of the film were shooting a chase sequence at an elaborate set created at Madh Island. Ranbir and Katrina were supposed to be running away from some goons and when Ranbir needed to suddenly turn around during the shoot, his hand inadvertently hit Katrina on her face and the delicate actress was left with a bleeding nose.

According to reports, Ranbir immediately apologized to the actress, but she took no offence because she knew the blow wasn’t intended. However, Katrina was in pain and had to be given first-aid on the sets. A worried Santoshi called off shooting for the day. The next day, too, Santoshi did not shoot the film but used the free time to do some decoration on the sets.

Well, all Ranbir is doing at present is keeping his fingers crossed so the Sallu Bhai (who is just too possessive about his girlfriend) does not take it as an intentional offence!

Ashutosh walked away with the prize money of Rs.10 million after winning the show against the remaining co-participants, Zulfi Syed and Raja Choudhary.

Ashutosh Kaushik, the 'dhaba' owner from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, was named winner of Bigg Boss Season two on Saturday at a star-studded finale. He takes home prize money of Rs 1 crore.

The big surprise at the finale was Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar [Images], who entered the house moments before the winner was announced. He was also asked by the host, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty [Images], to name the winner to an audience that comprised most of the original housemates and relatives of the finalists.

Ashutosh beat back a strong challenge from Bhojpuri filmmaker Raja Choudhary and model Zulfi Sayeed. Zulfi was the first to be eliminated and Raja was the runner-up.

Ashutosh credited his victory to "Rahul Bhaiyya (Rahul Mahajan [Images]) and the voting public." Asked what he would do with the prize money, he said, "I don't know yet. The win yet has to sink in. I will decide after a few days. But I will buy a house in Mumbai, Saar ke upar chaat chaiye."

After a controversial final week, which began with the four finalists (Rahul, the fourth finalist later took a voluntary exit) in a bizarre breakout bid to get dinner. The quartet were accosted by security guards and returned to the house in minutes.

While the other three finalists Ashutosh, Zulfi and Raja were apologetic about the breakout, Rahul refused to say sorry and opted for a voluntary exit.

Rahul's exit from the house was marked by emotional scenes in which the other three finalists were moved to tears.

To inject some life into proceedings, Ravi Kissen, the Bhojpuri superstar and last year's Bigg Boss contestant, entered the house for a day.

Rahul Mahajan won the Bada Dilwala award, an Aveo Yuva [Images] car. Ravi Kissen and Bollywood item girl Rakhi Sawant [Images], another Bigg Boss season one participant, performed at the finale.

Meanwhile, a security guard was injured as a group tried to gatecrash the venue. Trouble started apparently when the group was not allowed entry into the sets, leading to a clash with the security personnel.

A spokesperson of the Colors channel, which is airing the show, declined to give details of the incident.

'Dostana' a complete beach film: Priyanka Chopra

Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham was like a vacation and a rejuvenating experience for her.

Entirely shot in Miami, Florida, 'Dostana' comes as a breather for the actress whose flagging career was given a new lease of life with 'Fashion' after a series of duds - 'Love Story 2050', 'God Tussi Great Ho', 'Chamku' and 'Drona'.

"'Dostana' was like a vacation. It was so much fun. We were in Miami for two months and I was so fresh and rested when I came back. It was like a really relaxed outdoor and (I had a) great time because everybody got along well with each other," Priyanka said.
Produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the romantic comedy will release on Nov 14.

Priyanka plays a fashion journalist who shares her apartment with Abhishek and John. The two dupe her to rent her apartment on the pretext of being a gay couple.
"John, Abhishek and I are best friends in the film who do everything together. It's a romantic comedy and a fun film about what happens in their lives," the actress said.

Asked if she had any apprehensions working with a debutant director, specially after a string of flops this year, Priyanka said: "Tarun is a fabulous friend of mine and an incredible director. When I first met him, I was a little scared.
"I am a kind of person who asks a lot of questions. I test directors. I like asking and Tarun knew the answer to every question I asked. He blew my mind with his confidence and the commitment he had towards the film. By the end of the film, he's become a really close friend of mine and I admire him as a filmmaker."

The former Miss World also says: "I definitely want to try singing. I might start with, maybe, a song in one of my films but I'm not sure when. But I definitely want to do it."
The actress said she admired the blogging rage among celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Ram Gopal Varma, but added that she couldn't take to it due to lack of time.
"It's such a great way to get closer to your fans. But I don't know how they find time to blog because I hardly sleep for more than four hours. I really want to do it at some point because Karan (Johar) was also telling me it's great... may be in a while when my schedule eases a little bit.

"I've had six releases this year, so it's been insane for me."

I personally think that the makers of the trendsetting DILWALE DULAHNIYA LE JAAENGE and the radical MOHABBATEIN failed to woo the audience in DRONA and KIDNAP.

It is but obvious that we are referring to the first look of the Aditya Chopra directed, Shah Rukh Khan starrer RAB NE BANA DI JODI that is shining the walls of many theatres and multiplexes. Not content with that, Yash Raj Films have also taken full page ads in Sunday’s National dailies, both in English and the Vernacular.

After Duplicate and Om Shanti Om it's now Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi which will see Shah Rukh in a double role. According to sources, SRK will be seen in not one but two different avatars in Aditya Chopra's much-awaited film. The film sees Aditya Chopra making a come back after eight long years.

The poster shows a mustached, bespectacled middle class get up for Shah Rukh (Amol Palekar CHITCHOR looks?) with Anushka in a typical Punjabi salwar–suit peeping from behind Shah Rukh’s shoulders. The poster carries a very interesting and arresting tagline, both in Hindi and English.

The Hindi tagline goes like ”Har saadhaaran jodi mein ek asaadhaaran prem kahani chhupi hoti hai” And the English tagline is ”There is an extraordinary love story in every ordinary jodi”

Well, after seeing the buzz that the first poster is creating, one does not have to be a Nostradamus to predict the big opening when the film hits the screens worldwide on December 12.

If people were to throng the theatres with full aspirations, I would say that they are right, atleast for this one. Shot in premier and typical Yash Raj type locations... it sure is the time SRK gets his King Image back which rules the Bollywood empire back in DDLJ and KKHH time.

Its very close between the two megastars but Akshay has the advantage now. If RNBDJ scores as expected then Shahrukh would remain at the top but to sustain this he will have to increase his workload which has come down to one film a year from 2-3 films a few years back.

Basically if Akshay’s popularity remains and he continues to work as much as he is doing now and selects films as well as he is doing now then its only a matter time before he is at the top. Akshay is going to have 3-4 releases a year for the next few years while SRK looks like having one this year, one next year and two in 2010. Salman Khan is another guy who has a huge universal following and can put a spanner in the works as he can score 3-4 big hits in the next 8-10 months.

Its hard to say who exactly will reign but the best bet would be Akshay because SRK’s one big hit a year will not be enough as things stand today, two or three big hits is a different story but that can’t happen. Shahrukh also faced a huge challenge from Hrithik in 2006 but here Hrithik cut down on his workload and the challenge did not materialize but this will not happen with Akshay who will continue to have many releases.

What is Special About RNBDJ RAb Ne Banaa Di Jodi ?

Aditya Chopra on behalf of YRF films has assured multiplexes that they will not charge more than 50%, 40% 30% in the first three weeks for all films made by the banner this year.

Aditya Chopra however made an exception in the case of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi which he is directing himself. He clearly stated that the terms for that film would have to be higher than the other films. He also said that if any of the other Yash Raj films did exceptional business, the multiplex chains would have to up the sharing ratio after the first week.

In defence of his demand, he said its a give and take relationship and Yash Raj film had voluntarily refunded money to multiplex chains last year when Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag bombed at the box office.

One can remember his superb choreography in ‘Le gayee le gayee’ (DIL TO PAGAL HAI), way back in 1997. Some of his subsequent projects with Yash Raj include BUNTY AUR BABLI (2005) and DHOOM 2 (2006).

Shiamak is presently involved in one of the most prestigious projects of recent times, Aditya Chopra’s Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Vinay Pathak starrer, RAB NE BANA DI JODI (RNBDJ). However, he has just not restricted himself to Bollywood and is also busy with other non Bollywood projects, including a hot dance routine for the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympics. He is also a frequent globe-trotter and during one such foreign trips (Vancouver, to be precise), he was asked about the storyline of RNBDJ. The guarded choreographer said that the film is about a dancer and apologized saying that he was sworn to secrecy and so would not be able to disclose anything further.

Well, it seems like we will have to wait for December 12 to decipher what exactly Shiamak means; though another section of the media terms RAB NE BANA DI JODI as a romantic comedy.

Aamir Khan’s Ghajini to clash with SRK’s Rab Ne Banaa Di Jodi

Aamir Khan’s long-in-the-making Ghajini has now been further pushed back by two months. The film was initially supposed to hit cinemas by October 3 but will now release on December 12, the same date as Aditya Chopra’s much talked about Rab Ne Banaa Di Jodi, which stars Shah Rukh Khan.

An industry insider reveals, “Aamir Khan’s film has been in the making for over two years now. But it’s far from being complete. Aamir has only recently shaved his head off for the film but he couldn’t complete the schedule as he pulled his hamstring during shooting and was advised complete bed rest for five weeks, which added to the delay. Initially, the film was to be make it to theatres by October and clash with Salman Khan’s Wanted Dead Or Alive. But now because of the delay, the film has finally been pushed to December 12 where Aamir will clash with another Khan: Shah Rukh Khan in Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Banaa Di Jodi.”

Adding fuel to feud

The source further adds, “Aamir was very keen on releasing Ghajini in December. Last year, Taare Zameen Par was released around the same time. The actor is superstitious about the timing.”

Industry insiders feel that Aamir is just adding more fuel to his supposed feud with Shah Rukh Khan, “Didn’t he just make a dig at Shah Rukh recently on his blog? And now, he’s getting his release date pushed to clash with Shah Rukh. Whatever happens it is going to generate a lot of curiosity for both the projects.”

Ghajini director, A R Murugadoss remained unavailable for a comment.
